December 2012: Review of compliance with PN-EN 15038:2006 Standard
We are pleased to inform that in December 2012 Letterman successfully passed the annual audit of compliance with the European quality standard applicable to translation service providers.

Conference: Theatre of the 21st Century.
In December 2011, and May and November 2012, Letterman provided interpreting at a series of conference events organised by the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków under the project Theatre of the 21st century. East Meets West – West Meets East, co-financed by the Małopolska Regional Operational Programme 2007–2013. The service comprised seven languages: French, Italian, German, Czech, Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish. The stylish interiors of the theatre and the new Małopolska Garden of Arts provided an impressive setting for the events. We were pleased to receive the following references from the Client:

“The service was provided with due professional diligence and our cooperation with Letterman proceeded smoothly, as expected by the Theatre. We wish to stress the kindliness and helpfulness of Letterman’s staff.”

Purchase of simultaneous interpreting equipment
We are pleased to inform our clients that, in 2011, we purchased – as one of the first translating agencies in Kraków – our own interpreting equipment, opening up new opportunities for our company. The state-of-the-art BOSCH Integrus system ensures comfort both to the conference participants as well as the interpreters.

PN-EN 15038:2006 Standard
In 2011, after a successful certification process, our company implemented the
PN-EN 15038: 2006 quality standard for translation service providers. The standard applies exclusively to translations, as interpreting is not amenable to standardisation.  The first regular audit in 2012 confirmed our compliance with the standard.

What did we learn from the certification process? As Mr Jourdain in Moliere’s Bourgeois Gentleman, who is surprised to learn that he has spoken prose all his life, we were surprised to find that we had actually been applying the requirements of the standard for a long time. All we had to do was to “retranslate” what we were doing into words and procedures. Nevertheless the certification process helped us put our thinking about the company in order. We encourage other companies to take up the challenge and learn the truth about themselves! (norma)
